Atlas V AEHF-2 set to attempt launch for second time today

Yesterdays attempt to launch an Atlas V with the AEHF-2 satellite failed when a helium supply did not provide gas from the ground side service structure to the rocket.

There will be a second attempt to launch the rocket today.  The launch window extends from 2:42pm EDT to 4:42pm EDT (19:42-21:42 BST).

If you are unable to get to Cape Canaveral to view the launch in person then United Launch Alliance provide a webcast video feed on their website.  The video feed starts about 30 minutes prior to the opening of the launch window.  Click here for the ULA webcast.

An Atlas V rocket sits on top of the launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Space Launch Complex 41 in preparation for a launch today targeted for 2:46 EDT ( 17:46 BST). There is a long launch window of 2 hours today which should ensure that the rocket launches unless there is a technical issue that cannot be overcome.

Currently the weather is looking good with a 70% chance of favourable conditions. The main concerns are Anvil Clouds and Cumulus Clouds.

The best place to go to watch the launch is Playalinda Beach. Click here for more details. Playalinda beach is just a few miles north of the launch pad and offers excellent views.
